2001 Ilirska Bystrica

The team arrived after a four-day seaside holiday. We hoped that this short relaxation had done us good and we would have good results. The Saturday trainings were just like those ones in Baba: Tschager, Leitgeb and Szász were the fastest. The car was tried to be set up better and better. The weather was good for the tyres, it was about 40°C. After the trainings the order was Tschager (1:42,450), Szász (1:44,538) and Leitgeb (1:44,892) so an exciting race could be expected.
On Sunday after the first run there was only 0,470 second difference between Tschager and Szász, while Leitgeb's time was 2,3 seconds worse than László's. We hoped that László could come in first this time. The second run was even more exciting. Tschager started right before Szász László and did fantastic time: 1:41,795. A bit later the f3000 car crossed the start-line. We were watching the timer breathlessly, but unfortunately Tschager proved out to be faster again. László had 1:42, 425. Leitgeb was the third.
